Ben is based in Traverse City, Michigan...
where he lives with his beautiful wife Erin, and his very good dog Scooter.
After receiving his BA in Theatre from Wake Forest University, he was recipient of the Kauffman Foundation fellowship in Entrepreneurship for co-founding MagicMouth Theatre, a company that combined magic and theatre while educating communities in both art forms. The company was featured in the June, 2006 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine.
Ben moved to Chicago in 2006, 1 of 24 students accepted worldwide, into The School at Steppenwolf acting conservatory. While working as a professional actor and magician in Chicago, Ben continued to work with MagicMouth Theatre to create educational programs that taught children life-skills through magic.
In addition to acting and magic, he wrote and performed in 3 award-winning plays. His play Rubber Doves was winner of The New Horizons Playwriting competition. His one-man-show American Gypsy was accepted into the New York International Theatre Fringe Festival where his performance won 3 critic’s choice awards, as well as Top Solo Show, and Top Visual Performance at the Fringe Festival that year.
As a speaker and entertainer, Ben performs at numerous conferences, award banquets, and private events across the country for clients such as American Express, GE, and Oprah’s HARPO Studios. He is also currently one of Crystal Cruise Lines’ premiere entertainers, which has enabled him to perform and speak in over 40 countries around the globe.
Ben is also a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a member of American MENSA, is in the process of earning his pilot’s license, still acts professionally (when he has the time), and is currently writing his 6th play, a new adaptation of William Shakespeare's The Tempest. He also enjoys raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens, brown paper packages tied up with string, Michigan beers and Bruce Springsteen.
